Barbados Life

Barbados is the eastern most of the Caribbean islands and measures a compact 21 miles by 14 miles. Flat, coastal plains rise gradually to an area of rolling hills in the northern center of Barbados. Each change in relief offers a further variety of scenic beauty and marked differences in vegetation. Undulating fields of sugar-cane are interspersed with gullies full of indigenous tropical foliage; palm trees abound, forests clamber up hillsides, flowers bloom in a myriad of colors; acres of banana trees glisten in the sun.

There is always something new to catch the eye. As with all true islands the sea claims its right to be the indomitable spirit of the environment. From the invigorating sight of the East Coast to the tranquilizing effect of the West Coast, Barbados can offer a range of coastal scenery and sea bathing that is sure to accommodate even the most whimsical of tastes.

The island has a rich history with English and African influences providing an unusual and captivating variety of architecture, cuisine, dance, music, theatre and art. It is this diverse cultural heritage, which gives our country (an independent nation since 1966) its own character and its greatest asset - the people. Bajans by nature are friendly, fun-loving, creative and experts in the art of relaxation.

Barbados Activities - Island TourGuests visiting with us can do as much (or as little) as they desire. The warm sunshine and white beaches may not be enough for some. Other activities include hiking, tennis, polo, scuba diving, boating and deep sea fishing. All can easily be arranged just for the asking. Barbados boasts three beautiful golf courses enticing golf enthusiasts and professionals from all over the world. There is something for everyone!

All of our villas are located on the West Coast of the island where the sea is usually calm and sunsets are spectacular. We encourage guests to drive around the island to experience the culture of “Bajan” living. Visit the rugged and picturesque East coast where the Atlantic Ocean washes the shore. Experience the vibrant nightlife in St. Lawrence Gap on the South Coast.

Options for sightseeing are varied: you may choose an exciting helicopter tour, rigorous 4 x 4 Land Rover “off road” tour of the hills and scenic features on the east coast, or just hire a vehicle, pack a cooler and use a map to locate the many points of interest. Coastal sailing cruises offer many options - calypso party cruises, sunset cruises and private champagne cruises are very enjoyable and a great way to see the island’s coastline and beaches. Most cruises include food and drink and make a number of stops for swimming and snorkeling.
